York Region Colored Concrete Utility Pole Case Study

As part of the larger rapid transit expansion and roadway improvement project, the Highway 7 Boulevard Revitalization involved expanding the roadway to include dedicated transit lanes and improve traffic flow to eliminate roadblocks in the largest city within the Regional Municipality of York, also called York Region. In the course of this project, York Region seized the opportunity to improve the beauty of the corridor through the use of colored concrete utility poles over the standard gray.

City of Birmingham - LED Conversion Case Study

The Council Members of Birmingham collectively made the decision to invest in the lighting infrastructure of the city’s neighborhoods and downtown core to improve nighttime visibility, safety, aesthetics and energy efficiency, while reducing maintenance costs, uplight and crime. Previously, Birmingham had a large number of High-Intensity Discharge (HID) fixtures that were not meeting the city’s appropriate lighting requirements and energy efficiency. It was a growing concern when it came to brightening Birmingham, Alabama. With the conversion to LED fixtures, the improved lighting has encouraged both citizens and visitors to enjoy city centers, neighborhoods and the surrounding environment.

Syrian Refugees Achieve Success at StressCrete

Saher Emmun and Mohamad Sido are amongst the 40,000 refugees who came to Canada from Syria in 2015-2016 of which more than 2,000 were directed to the Hamilton metropolitan area. Through the WorkLINC program at the Immigrants Working Centre (IWC), we held two job fairs where both Saher and Mohamad were hired.
